Understanding roast levels
Light roasts taste brighter and more acidic. Medium roasts, such as many breakfast blends, are balanced and smooth. Dark roasts taste bolder and more bitter. Decaf versions are available in most roast styles, with most of the caffeine removed.
Making a better cup
- Choose the smallest cup size setting for a stronger flavor.
- Use fresh, filtered water.
- Run a cleaning cycle with plain water before brewing if the machine has been idle.
- Descale your machine regularly following its instructions.
Storing pods
Keep pods in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Check the best-by date on the box. Sealed pods keep their flavor well, but older pods can taste flat.
Value and the environment
Compare the price per pod across pack sizes. If you want to reduce waste, check whether the pods are recyclable in your area, or try a reusable filter with ground coffee.
