Mop floors the efficient way
Sweep or vacuum first so you are not pushing grit around. A spray mop with replaceable pads lets you clean smaller areas quickly. Work in sections, moving backward toward the door, and change the pad when it gets dirty. Check the floor manufacturer's guidance before using any cleaning solution.
Caring for microfiber pads
- Machine wash them with warm water and mild detergent.
- Skip fabric softener, which clogs the fibers.
- Air dry or tumble dry on low heat.
- Replace pads when they become thin or stop picking up dirt.
Using wet wipes safely
Flushable wipes are labeled flushable, but plumbing and septic systems differ. If you are unsure, throw wipes in the trash. Never flush makeup removers or cleaning wipes unless the package says they are flushable.
Choosing bath towels
Thicker, heavier towels feel plush and absorb more water. Cotton is the most common material. Wash new towels before first use, and avoid too much softener, which can reduce absorbency. Hang towels to dry between uses so they do not develop odors.
